Hi! I have been building some shells and I am very interested in your method. Can you explain to me what this cylinder that is connected to a compresser in the middle is called? Thank you!!!

the answer is in your question..........
show me some of your shells please
maybe we can discuss about that too
this forum is a little bit empty sometimes
maybe i explain you more later about that cilinder connected to a compressor.........
i don't think you can get it in sweden, if not i'll send you two, but they are very expensive, and hard to make .
if you find them in sweden let me know, maybe they're cheaper or more expensive,
you'll need two
one for the small diameters (up to 16' and one for the bigger ones upto 24')
you'll need the steelplate inside on both sides to line out before you expand them
the wals are 3,5 mm (PR12) and take 3 bar)
you also need the special airfeed element (the brass clockwork on the picture) with the security or safety valve.
it is very extremely important that you know the pressure, humidity, time and temperature, and that you can measure and control it propperly
on some other picture you'll find a heating set where i control the compressed steam
i'm all of a sudden that you'll find that everywhere in sweden.

Can you tell me where you got your cylinders som I know where to search?
I am sorry but for the moment I have no pics of the shells I've made. So far have only tried making three 14" snare shells. My jig is much like yours but is not split in to two pieces like yours. Therefore i have much trouble getting the outer seam perfect. For applying pressure I have so far used a ball (diameter of about 50 cm). This method has worked farely well but i have figured out I need more pressure.
